The temperature control for pre oxidation is between the glass transition temperature and the cracking temperature, that is, between 200-300 ℃. The purpose of pre oxidation is to transform thermoplastic PAN linear polymer chains into non plastic heat-resistant trapezoidal structures, so that they do not melt or ignite at high carbonization temperatures, maintain fiber morphology, and remain thermodynamically stable. The pre oxidized trapezoidal structure significantly improves carbonization efficiency and greatly reduces production costs. At the same time, pre oxidized fiber (OF) is also an important intermediate product that can be processed into various products through deep processing. Spinning pre oxidized fiber directly enters the market and has been practically applied in many fields.

Pre oxidation treatment is a very important intermediate process in the transformation of PAN precursor fibers into carbon fibers. Through pre oxidation treatment, the linear molecular chain structure inside PAN fibers gradually transforms into a heat-resistant ladder structure. This heat-resistant ladder structure can remain non melting and non flammable in a high-temperature environment protected by an inert atmosphere, maintain the fibrous morphology, and ultimately obtain high-performance PAN based carbon fibers.
